As part fo the GFW team i have been responsible for various different parts for the show.
It is becoming more and more important that everything gets ordered. i was responsible for the hangers which have since arrived and we are all really pleased with.
The flooring has been a bit of an issue aswell but this week we have finally got it all layed out and fitting together nicely.
The boxes have also arrived and all thats left to do is a little more painting and our stand is going to look amazing.
Female models are required for a catwalk show at the Minories in Colchester to model a series of final year degree students work. They need to be available on the 22nd and 23rd June 2011

Amazing Inspirational Image…
This is a great look for my photo shoot and the back drop is amazing, it sets the scene of my collection! I have decided to do my photo shoot in the studio, continuing on from the David Lam shoot. Originally I wanted to do a shoot on location i.e. the beach but I feel I will get a more professional set of images if I do it in the studio as there are so many factors which need to be perfect in order for a location shoot to work (sun, sea, wind, people)!
I am looking forward to my final shoot this Thursday in the photography studio at Uni. I have got a model in place and a photography student to help take the photos and set up the lighting etc I want to bring my theme into the photographs just like David Lam did whilst still focussing on the print on each garment.
ARTS THREAD pages
I have been editing my previous portfolio pages ready to be uploaded on the Arts Thread website. I want to show that I can be versatile by showing print, construction, womenswear and menswear. The main focus will be on the pages for my final major project but these need to be revised more and made amazing in order to put them in my portfolio now that I have the portfolio award to think about as well.
I have been working on my illustrations for my portfolio and this is an initial idea, using photographs of the garments and using a loose line drawing of a figure to illustrate the female form. I am pleased with how they are looking so far but they need some more work before they are ready for my portfolio!
I found out that I have been put forward for the Portfolio award at Graduate Fashion Week which is very exciting news. This is an amazing opportunity and has given me the motivation to produce a portfolio which is unique and that will stand out at GFW. I have already been working hard on my portfolio pages so I will continue this and hopefully receive some positive feedback from it.
I had to present my professional development plan to a group of peers and tutors today. I didn’t feel nervous at all as the presentation was about my final major project and my future career plans so it was quite straightforward. I found myself speaking very quickly during the presentation and I think I was slightly under the 10 minute requirement but I do feel that I covered everything I needed to cover. The presentation is part of the pdp module and it allowed me to share my final major project with others and to conclude my short and long term goals.
I came across this latest trend from Topshop which desribes my collection perfectly! The mix of graphic prints with chiffon fabric creates dramatic statement pieces. The free-spirited nature comes through in both the prints and the floaty garments.
Topshop is my target market for my collection as I feel the age range it’s aimed at is similar to the Topshop brand. The type of customer who I feel would wear my collection would also be likely to shop in Topshop so that they could get something on-trend but also unique at the same time.

Portfolio Inspiration
Another magazine which I have found inspiring is The Gentlewoman. The page layouts are quite simplistic but very captivating. I like the use of minimal, large font text and the bold images on the page.
